In 2016, the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory celebrates its 150th anniversary and the mdw/University of Music and Performing Arts is celebrating with its sister school.
Artists at the festive gala concert in the Neuer Konzertsaal (Rennweg) include the renowned Russian conervatory’s Andrey Sannikov (flute), Dmitry Shishkin (piano) and Evgeny Rumyantsev (cello), along with world-famous Bolshoi Theatre singers Sergey Plyusnin (tenor) and Oksana Lesnichaya (soprano). Accompanied by Elena Savelieva (piano).
The mdw contributes its Doreen Quartet (Ieva Pranskute, Jacqueline Preys, Andjela Sibinovic, Mislav Brajkovic) to the performance, playing works of Dmitry Shostakovich.

The gala concert serves as a ceremonial prelude to an era of intensified bilateral cooperation between the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the mdw. The concert is presented in cooperation with the Russian Cultural Institute Vienna and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Austria.
